|Well, I was 19 at the time, & I had my particular taste in things. LMMFAO. So here is another interesting render from a time long ago. This one is very sensual & still somewhat savage, almost frightening.|
|Wow, another old picture! This one was from 1995 March 16th. I was 18 at the time & man did I try to incorporate lots of silly things in here! Well, its still a picture I guess & at the time I enjoyed doing it & won many fans across my high school because of it's unique appeal. I was inspired by Luis Royo's book Malefic to create this image after meeting a peculiar street sketcher at the Rock & Roll McDonald's downtown at about midnight then. I had the damnedest time even finding the book years later because he was an unknown. But am I glad I met that fella. Totally changed my conceptions of things & my ideas only became that much more broadened by our chance encounter. Good times!|
|This is probably the single picture I ever invested so much time into. & I believe now it could be better. But the amount of details I did include in just the characters alone kinda' blows me away that I was able to sit down & render it. While not perfect, it was very good of my ability back during the summer of 1996! A fond memory it is.|

Character design and drawing are tome-sized topics and even if I had all the answers (I don't - I have a lot to learn), I'm not sure I could communicate them effectively. Here are some thoughts an ideas that might help, though.
First, some general things...
Let some of that anxiety go. This isn't a hard science. There's no wrong way, no rigid process you must adhere to, no shoulds or shouldn'ts except those you designate for yourself. This is one of the fun parts of being an artist, really - have a heady good time with it.
